Andrea Kushman rejoined the Boston University Department of Athletics in January 2008 as an Athletic Trainer. She will be the primary Athletic Trainer for the women's lacrosse team and also will assist with other Terrier student-athletes. Kushman comes to BU most recently from the Lakeshore Foundation, a U.S. Paralympic/Olympic Training site in Birmingham, Ala. She was responsible during her two years as an Athletic Trainer and Dartfish Specialist to develop and facilitate sports medicine services for athletes with physical and/or visual impairments, including Lakeshore Foundation athletic teams (wheelchair rugby, basketball, swimming, tennis), recreational activities (rock climbing, ice/roller sled hockey, goal ball, water skiing, kayaking, sport camps, bike trips). In addition, she provided sports science services (sports medicine, sport video analysis and strength and conditioning) for U.S. Training Site teams. Kushman served as the Head Athletic Trainer at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston from 2003 to 2005, working with student-athletes from the Boston Public Schools and Roxbury Community College. She served as an Athletic Trainer for the 2007 USA Wheelchair Tennis Team at the World Team Cup in Stockholm, Sweden, and the 2006 USA Men's Team Handball team at the Pan American League Championships in Aracaju, Brazil. Other events she has covered include the 2004 Adidas Indoor Games, the 2005 Boston Indoor Games, and multiple USA Track and Field Championships, ECAC Track and Field Championships, NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships and National Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships. She also worked with the Terriers field hockey, women's lacrosse, track and field and wrestling programs as a graduate assistant athletic trainer from 2001 to 2003. Kushman graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Athletic Training from Northeastern University. She completed her Master's in Special Education at Boston University in 2003, and was certified in Massage Therapy by the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy that same year. |
