Women's Ice Hockey Partakes in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
The Boston Universitywomen's ice hockey team joined forces with Hockey East onOct. 15to support the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.The Terriers, along with Rhett and members of the Northeastern women'sice hockey team, attended the event on the Esplanade in Boston.The six-mile walk starts and ends at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell and winds around the Charles River.
Lacrosse Makes Third Straight Appearance at Boston's Race for the Cure
The Boston University women's lacrosseteam kicked off the fall semester withits yearly participation in the 14thannual Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure 5k Run on Sunday, Sept. 10. This marked the third straight year BU lacrosse has run in this race, which helps to raise money in the fight against breast cancer.
BU Student-Athletes Lend Helping Hand to Habitat for Humanity Earlier this month, the Boston University Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) participated in a Build Day for Habitat for Humanity, Greater Boston. Established in 1987, Habitat Greater Boston has built or renovated 55 homes with families in need. In 2004, construction began in Dorchester at Blue Hills Place, the highest-density urban Habitat project in the nation and the future home of 22 families.
Women’s Soccer Helps Raise Over $6,000 for CityKicks Program
Boston University women's soccer head coach Nancy Feldman helped engineer a fund-raiser which netted over $6,000 to benefit the CityKicks organization Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field.The 2006 CityKicks Icebreaker Women's Soccer Tournament was a seven-on-seven tournament involving 11 eastern Massachusetts adult women's soccer teams.The participants on each team contributed $50 to play in the tournament.
Men's Ice Hockey Teams Up with NAAR
On February 11, the Boston University men's ice hockey team, in conjuction with the National Alliance for Autism Research, hosted a group of autistic children from the Melmark School. The Terrier team, along with coaches Jack Parker, David Quinn and Mike Bavis, presented the kids with BU t-shirts, pucks and posters. Afterwards, the group enjoyed a pizza party lunch while watching the team practice at Agganis Arena.
