Men's Basketball Announces the Signings of Pelage, O'Brien
May 5, 2008
BOSTON - Boston University men's basketball has signed Jeff Pelage and Jake O'Brien as members of the Class of 2012, head coach Dennis Wolff announced today. Pelage and O'Brien will fill out the Terrier frontcourt for this season. Pelage, a 6-8 center from Pine Crest School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., averaged 12.7 ppg and 12.8 rpg as he led his team to a Florida Class 3A state title. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel Second Team All-County selection also competed in track and field for Pine Crest. O'Brien, a local product from Boston College High School, was a four-time Catholic Conference all-star. The 6-8, 215-pound forward averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds as a senior and captained his squad to a 21-4 record and an appearance in the EMass final. As a junior O'Brien led his team to a perfect 25-0 mark and BC High's first-ever state title. "Jeff is a back-to-the-basket center who should bring a much-needed physical presence to the paint," said Wolff. "And Jake is an extremely skilled forward whose ability to shoot and knowledge of the game should enable him to contribute immediately." The Terriers return 12 from a team that went 14-17 during the 2007-08 season and reached the America East tournament semifinals.
