Four seniors on the Boston University men's ice hockey team have started professional careers, as Bryan Ewing (Plymouth, Mass.), Pete MacArthur (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Brian McGuirk (Danvers, Mass.) and Ryan Weston (Henniker, N.H.) have all signed amateur tryout contracts with teams in the American Hockey League.

On Monday, McGuirk signed with the Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, who drafted McGuirk in the eighth round of the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft. McGuirk made his professional debut against the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday and earned an assist on the first goal of an eventual 3-2 shootout win.

Ewing signed with the Springfield Falcons (an affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers) on Wednesday, while MacArthur and Weston signed on with the Bridgeport Sound and the Albany River Rats, respectively, on Thursday. Bridgeport is affiliated with the New York Islanders, while Albany's parent club is the Carolina Hurricanes.

McGuirk and Weston were linemates this season and the two are expected to face off against each other when Albany visits Syracuse tonight. Ewing and MacArthur are scheduled to make their debuts tonight, as the Falcons visit the Providence Bruins and the Sound plays host to the Hershey Bears.
