Wrestling Falls Short at East Stroudsburg, 21-17

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Boston University wrestling team put together a strong effort but came up short in a 21-17 decision on the road against East Stroudsburg on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Terriers move to 6-8-1 on the year. Junior Carlo Ferrandino got things started on the right foot for BU, posting a 5-3 win over Kyle Heselpoth at 157. Sophomore A.J. Detwiler followed with a 7-3 decision against Joe Schick at 165 to give the Terriers a early 6-0 lead. At 174, sophomore C.J. Inglin dropped a 10-3 match against Shane Mallory, but prevented a major decision. Classmate Alex Brown came up an impressive 13-0 major decision over Tom Pagano at 184 to give BU a 10-3 advantage. The Warriors, however, responded with four straight wins - including a crucial 125-pound forfeit - to take a 21-10 lead that proved to be insurmountable. Senior Joey Whitaker and junior Mike Roberts closed out the dual with victories for BU at 141 and 149, respectively. Whitaker pulled out a hard-fought 5-3 win over Sean Carr, while Roberts scored early and often in his 17-7 major decision over Jesse Dunn. The Terriers will close out their regular season at home on Saturday (Feb. 23) when they host Rider for a noon dual. ESU 21, Boston University 17
