Hudak Named America East Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete
Feb. 19, 2008
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Sarah Hudak (Harleysville, Pa.) has been named the 2007 America East Scholar-Athlete for field hockey, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. She is the fourth recipient of the honor from the Terrier field hockey program since the award's inception in 1991. A committee of athletic administrators and NCAA Faculty Athletics Representatives chose an honoree in each of the conference's six fall championship sports. Each America East Scholar-Athlete is a starter or prominent reserve and carries a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.20. Hudak, a senior occupational therapy major, was named the America East Defensive Player of the Year last fall, helping BU capture its third straight conference title. She anchored a defense that gave up just 1.20 goals per game, which ranked 13th in the nation. A four-year starter, Hudak helped the Terriers advance to the second round of this year's NCAA tournament following a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory over Big Ten champion Iowa. Hudak was selected to the America East All-Academic field hockey squad and was a member of the conference Honor Roll each of the past two years.
