10th Year in College Coaching (second as head coach, eight as an assistant) Liz Robertshaw, who has been a driving force behind the emergence of the Boston University women's lacrosse program onto the national scene, enters her second season as the team's head coach. A nine-year coaching veteran at the Division I level, Robertshaw served as the Terriers' top assistant for three seasons and was elevated to associate head coach before being named head coach on Sept. 1, 2006. Last season, the Terriers successfully defended their America East regular-season and tournament titles from 2006 and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season. Over the past three years, BU has compiled a record of 46-13 and has achieved a ranking as high as third in the country. As an assistant, Robertshaw served as the team's offensive coordinator and also headed up the Terriers' recruiting efforts. BU has brought in standout recruiting classes in recent years and the team's attack unit has been ranked in the top 10 nationally in two of the past three seasons. Prior to arriving at Boston University, Robertshaw served as an assistant coach at Brown University from 2000-03, working with the Bears' defensive unit and goalkeepers. Before Brown, Robertshaw began her coaching career at her alma mater, George Mason University, working as an assistant coach from 1998-1999. Robertshaw earned USWLA All-American recognition in both her junior and senior seasons and STX/IWLCA All-American recognition in her senior year, becoming the first George Mason women's lacrosse player to earn All-America distinction. During her career, Robertshaw was a two-time captain and totaled a record 90 caused turnovers. Robertshaw was also a four-time all-conference selection and was awarded the Aimee Willard Award as the best collegiate player at the US Lacrosse National Tournament in 1998. Robertshaw received a bachelor's degree in English from George Mason in 1999. |
