AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006-07
Had a monumental season as a sophomore... Competed in three events at the conference championships, including the 800-free relay, the 400 IM, the 1650 free... In the 1650-free race, made a comeback to finish second with a time of 17:21.76 - a collegiate best... Also placed fifth overall in the 400-yard IM with a collegiate-best time of 4:34.81... Member of the record-breaking 800-free relay team... Was a crucial part of the Terriers' win over Boston College on Jan. 23, winning the 1,000 free and 500 free, while also taking third in the 50 free... On Nov. 17, at the Terrier Invitational, lowered her personal best in the 200 IM to 2:12.02.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2005-06
Had a tremendous first year at BU, finishing in the top six in three events at the 2006 America East Championships... Was named Terrier swim program's Rookie of the Year for her efforts... Finished third in the 500 Free at conference meet, fourth in the 400 IM and sixth in the 200 Free... Swam the first leg on the 800 Free Relay squad which established a school record (7:40.47) and finished third... Swam the 1650 Free as an exhibition, but her time was good enough for sixth in the event... Ranked No. 1 at BU in 500 Free, 1000 Free and 1650 Free... Ranked no. 2 in 400 IM and no. 4 in 200 IM.
BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Graduated from St. Mark's School in 2005... As a senior, was the Delaware state champion in the 200 Free.
PERSONAL
Born on Jan. 23, 1987... Daughter of Kelly and Paul Ruggiero... Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences as an economics major... During her summer break in 2007 became a United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) national champion in the Women's Open Water Rescue Race while representing Sussex County.
