Women's Tennis Defeats Stony Brook 4-0, Advances to AE Finals for 15th Straight Year

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The top-seeded, 14-time defending America East champion Boston University women's tennis team advanced to the conference championship for the 15th consecutive year with a 4-0 defeat of Stony Brook on Saturday, April 26 on Yale's campus. BU will play Binghamton for the league title Sunday at 11 a.m. The Terriers are playing for their 10th straight trip to the NCAA tournament. BU has swept a conference tournament match for the 22nd time in the 11 years the conference championship has been decided by a team format. Boston University takes a three-match win streak into the championship. Sophomore Francine Whu (Staten Island, N.Y.), junior Cori Lefkowith (Clayton, Mo.) and junior Danielle Abraham (Waukesha, Wis.) each won their singles matches in straight sets, while BU took the first and third doubles matches for the doubles point. Sophomore Liz Corrao (Holden, Mass.) and freshman Vanessa Steiner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were each winning their matches when the contests were called due to the team match being decided.
