Terriers Win 4-2 Over Binghamton, Earn 15th Straight America East Title

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Boston University women's tennis team handed Binghamton a 4-2 defeat in the 2008 America East championship to win the Terriers' 15th consecutive league title and 10th straight NCAA tournament bid Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Francine Whu (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named the America East Most Outstanding Performer. In the semifinals yesterday, she earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles. She defeated Anna Edelman 7-5, 6-3 this afternoon.

Freshman Vanessa Steiner (Pittsburgh, Pa.), junior Cori Lefkowith (Clayton, Mo.) and junior Danielle Abraham (Waukesha, Wis.) also claimed singles victories after Binghamton won the doubles point with very narrow wins at first and third doubles.
